Pure Detroit

Pure Detroit from Ivan George.

Gorgeous cinematography that hints at social change. Somewhere between heaven, hell & quiet meditation.

The Presets – If I Know You

Filled with some incredibly unique and original imagery. Lovely editing. For whatever reason, made me think of Claire Denis’ Beau Travail.

It’s Your Ride

It’s Your Ride from Cinecycle.

Probably the prettiest portrait of biking in New York City. It makes me miss the Big Apple. The cinematography is fantastic.

Jakob Dylan – Something Good This Way

Seemingly simple but it is quite cohesive. Antville commenter:

…beautiful framing (the symmetry and that every shot has a deliberate ‘horizon’ across the middle of the screen). lovely grade.

Tobias Stretch – Transmutation

Dang, I don’t know how this got lost in my mailbox. Urrghh!

This is a rough sketch for a Aniboom Radiohead competition by Tobias Stretch whose earlier work is simply out of this world.

Take a peek.

Slow, especially hard when you are following the exciting Indiana Primary results come in, but it is mesmerizing.  Here is how the filmmaker submitted the film:

The idea of the course (Film & Architecture) was to create a small documentary about the subject “Documenting Dessau”, which is the city where the course takes place. It is a small city in former East Germany, south of Berlin, known only for the Bauhaus building and some other modern architecture examples, mostly from Walter Gropius. Instead of going the obvious way and document Dessau as the Bauhaus Stadt, I decided to look at the city from the perspective of the people who live there, in the case us foreigners arriving at a small and decadent city and trying to live there. It is the city as experiences and not as place.

Color Dream N°246

Color Dream N°246

Download the Quicktime file, put it in your iPod and play it when you need some tranquility or beauty in your life. Stunning colors that move like streams of water during and after a rainstorm. The colors are great but the movements affect me more.

The creator, Michael Theodore, briefly talks about the technique on Antville.
