The Butterfly Circus

At the height of the Great Depression, the showman of a renowned circus leads his troupe through the devastated American landscape, lifting the spirits of audiences along the way. During their travels they discover, Will, a man without limbs who lives out his life in a sordid carnival sideshow, far below his aspirations of the grandeur of the great circuses. Having only known a life of limitation and discouragement, Will is struck by an intriguing encounter with the showman that leaves him with a drive to hope against everything he has ever believed.
Winner of the Doorpost Film Project, this short film by Joshua Weigel will be expanded into a feature length film.

Gina, An Actress, Age 29
Wonderful film from Paul Harrill. I absolutely love the story.
Google – Parisian Love
I have to admit, missed most of the Super Bowl and all of the ads that go along with the football. But I did catch the Google ad and it is a beauty. It is a triumph of story over all the technical wizardry that is usually showcased in Super Bowl ads.
UPDATE: Visit Search Stories, for a whole series of these ads.
Nuit Blanche

Can’t stop watching this film by Arev Manoukian. Looks even more gorgeous in Full HD on my TV.
Watch Nuit Blanche.
Lucy Lolly

Lucy is a girl who loves candy, especially Lolly pops. However, to the lolly this innocent, sweet little girl is a monster who slowly tortures the defenceless stick before crunching it into pieces.
A great escape story like no other, Lucy Lolly is a tooth rotting horror adventure that will make you think twice about playing with your candy.
Directed by Aaron Foster, this was the final major project for his BA Honors degree in Digital Animation at the South East Essex College.

The Known Universe
After hovering over Mount Everest and the gorges that plunge to the Ganges, you are pulled through the Earth’s atmosphere to glimpse the inky black of space over Tibet’s high desert. So begins The Known Universe, a new film produced by the American Museum of Natural History that is part of a new exhibition, Visions of the Cosmos: From the Milky Ocean to an Evolving Universe, at the Rubin Museum of Art in New York City.
