Matt Faust – Home

A great portrait of an American family. One of my favorite shorts for 2008. Matt Faust beautifully juxtaposes photos of his childhood home in Louisiana with the post-Katrina disaster photos of the same home
Watch it – Director Matt Faust’s blog (Thanks to Nic who found this at a festival)

Matt,
I just read on page 8A of the Baton Rouge Advocate where you had won one of the top awards at the Tribeca Film Festival for your “homes” short. Congratulations! I remember suggesting you send it to ASLA for the student awards program, but I had no idea you had higher venues in mind!
Great move and great film!

Matt,
Just saw your film at the Tribeca Festival and was blown away. Your technique reminded me of dreams I’ve had of my home but my childhood home still exists for someone else now. So powerful and the music was beautiful. How can a person get involved in the rebuilding of N.O. without lining pockets of the politicians?
Again, great job!!

Matt,
I just finished watching ‘home’ on PBS, for the second night in a row. Rivers of tears, both times. I was so touched. You have captured in film what words cannot. Thank you!
