New York FF shorts review

I mentioned earlier about some of the New York FF being available online. Finally, got around to seeing them.

- Cubs – Disturbing. Destruction of innocence. Times have certainly changed when urban kids chase after foxes.

- Alice sees the light – Stylistically, I couldn’t help think of the Quay Brothers, with the Music and even those bloody nails. But after a couple of minutes, this avant-garde doc takes a life of its own, even if it’s a life of a zombie. The music is right on, after a while, I felt I was experiencing a bout of insomnia.

- The Naked Race – Takes a while before it starts to make sense. Funny in a very quiet way.

- Lump – Disturbing film, the cutting of the short gives the feeling of memory loss, confusion.

- The Caretakers – Well shot, well directed. Slow-moving for an online watch. But in theaters, at the festival, it would be a very different experience.
