When spelling makes you faint

This video is awesome only because the boy makes a successful comeback. Well, also because it is pretty funny.
Momus – Nervous Heartbeat

A strange video that reinforces the idea of the human face being the most fascinating object on this planet. The tree in those lights are beautiful but get rid of that sparkle effect. Please!
Interview with Peter Greenaway
This video is for film geeks. A long piece (39 mins) that mostly features Greenway’s talking head. I am fascinated with Greenway, his films, though, is another matter.

Based on a poem by Philip Larkin, voiced by Bob Geldof, the film directed by Ruth Lingford looks at senile decay and the inevitability of death with a mixture of fear, disgust, and compassion.

The comedy dream team: Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert and then Steve Carell. All in one video!
Same bright idea
These two videos had the same idea of having the video exist in a book. Not a copycat like we have had before because stylistically, the videos are quite different. Intriguing nevertheless.

Odd beautiful video.
Squigglebooth – Been you all along
Another one of our vodcasts:
A video of me and my wife in a series of photographs growing up beside each other. Yes, it is very cheesy. But what can I say, I am in love and proud of it.
Shac Shorts

I get terribly excited when I find talented people or incredible work. Stuff that should be on everybody’s lips, that everybody should experience because it is so damn good. Shac Shorts is such a find. If you look at it on face value, Shac Shorts really doesn’t have much going for it. The technical side of it is really amateurish. But everything outside of that is absolutely beautiful (and hilarious). And as much I want to say “go, run and see it.” I don’t want to oversell it. I don’t want you to be disappointed when it didn’t meet wild expectations. Because these shorts sort of surprise you with their subtle wit. So walk, take your time. Watch it when you got the time.

Federico Vitali (the author of Lava-Lava!) tries to put animation back to its roots with this pilot for a French animated series. Six minutes of joyful, senseless, priceless humour and no dialogues.

“Check out the sparse and supremely sinister Sonic Mutation video for Kode9 directed by Mo Stoebe and Jasmin Jodry.”
Fascinating visuals, though the concept is not new.

Four Eyed Monsters – Net Neutrality

By chance I turned on iTunes, by chance I refreshed Four Eyed Monsters (even though the next episode seemed a little while aways), and by chance see the most emotional moment in the FEM saga in what is a very unfamiliar ground for them: net neutrality. Till now the internet has provided an equal platform for independents and corporates but all this could change on June 7th 2006 where “Congress is pushing a law that would abandon the Internet’s First Amendment — a principle called Network Neutrality that prevents companies like AT&T, Verizon and Comcast from deciding which Web sites work best for you — based on what site pays them the most. If the public doesn’t speak up now, our elected officials will cave to a multi-million dollar lobbying campaign.”
Meaning a site like Four Eyed Monsters or Squigglebooth will be selected by your service provider to give slower service. So a download from some corporate site will be much, much faster than media from our site. It is not Corporates will get faster, they will make independents slower.
It is an incredibly important issue especially to people like Arin Crumley or me. We are independent media distributors. The current internet has given people like us, who have been on the outside in other forms of media, an equal footing. All this will change with this bill. We will once again be relegated to the side, our voices will be drowned out by louder, mainstream media voices. So you could see why this could make someone like Arin break down and cry. Because his livelihood is threatened, the opportunities that were given to him will be taken away and not offered again. The mom and pop operation will be threatened. All fairness that the internet founders fought for will be gone.
It is an issue that many people have been fighting for. But we are all surprised it has even gotten this far. So please, join us in getting our Congress to act morally. Arin Crumley & Susan Brice are a great example of someone who will directly be affected by all this. At every stage of distributing their film, they have been discounted, shut out and sidelined by mainstream media but they overcome all that with their podcasts, a success that would not have happened if it were not for Net Neutrality.

UPDATE: If you are calling your Senators, you are saying “yes to Net Neutrality.”
Mr Ti2bs – Keep it Movin

I didn’t care for the song but the video and its use of the long shutter effect is cool.
