Wes Anderson’s American Express ad

wes andersonwes andersonwes anderson

People who know me know how much I love “Bottle Rocket.” Probably, my favorite comedy of all time. I have seen that movie too many times to count. The director of “Bottle Rocket” was Wes Anderson who went on to direct “Rushmore,” “The Royal Tenenbaums” and “The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou.” And though I loved these movies, he has never lived up to the “Bottle Rocket” heights. Anderson’s new American Express ad has the same effect on me like all his other films. I like it, I respect it but is not as funny as I had hoped it would be. Like all Anderson works, there is a refreshing sweetness about it. With the director poking holes into his persona and the absurdity of what he calls a living.

Thanks for posting the full-length version. The t.v. spot is much tighter and works better as an ad, but you know me and my tracking shots. I love ’em!
