I love Ruth Goldberg-inspired machines because you can see the magic of engineering work right in front of you instead of say a motherboard which is too small for the naked eye to appreciate. The Incredible Machines video is a collection of Japanese Ruth Goldberg-inspired machines. The repeating music in the video is absolutely annoying after a couple of minutes but everything else is truly incredible. I thought I’d get tired after a couple of segments but I didn’t. Every deviation got me even more hooked. The machines reminded me of the elements of story. Your eye following the balls, the method of moving these balls differentiated from one machine to another, each deviation playing with what you’d expect.
